Disruptions

If your flight is disrupted for any of the following reasons: 

  • Cancelled flights with no available alternative within 24 hours
  • The departure is moved earlier by 3+ hours (domestic) or 6+ hours (international)
  • The arrival is delayed by 3+ hours (domestic) or 6+ hours (international)
  • The flight is changed to a different departure or arrival airport
  • Additional connections are added to the itinerary
  • The customer is moved from Mint to Main
  • A schedule change results in a misconnect or does not meet minimum connect times

We will keep you on your existing flight (if delayed) or automatically rebook you onto a new flight (if canceled). If you’re satisfied with your flight, no further action is needed.

If you’re not satisfiedyou are eligible to:

  • Rebook on an alternate flight within 5 days at no additional cost or
  • Cancel and refund to the original form of payment, including ancillary fees (seats, pets, bags, etc.). To be eligible for a refund, the customer must cancel online or contact us prior to flight departure.

Flights Cancelled by JetBlue

If your flight is cancelled by JetBlue for any reason and you had a confirmed reservation at the time of cancellation, the following options are available:

  • Rebook on the next available JetBlue flight at no additional charge
  • Receive a refund to the original form of payment.

Additionally, flights cancelled within 4 hours of scheduled departure are eligible for compensation under our Customer Bill of Rights.

Heads up: Beginning in early 2026, Customer Bill of Rights compensation will be issued as TrueBlue points instead of a JetBlue travel credit. To receive points, customers must have a TrueBlue account attached to their reservation prior to departure.

I already cancelled my flight before the fee waiver was issued

If you voluntarily changed or cancelled your flight before a fee waiver was issued and the flight was still scheduled to operate, the original fare rules will apply. All fees and fare differences will apply.

Disrupted by weather?

If a fee waiver has been issued, log into Manage Trips to update your reservation. Manage Trips automatically incorporates the details of a fee waiver if your trip meets the criteria.

  • Customer safety is always our first priority
  • For weather-related cancellations, we make every effort to cancel flights more than four hours before departure but depending on the circumstances, this is not always possible
  • Weather anywhere along a flight's route can cause a delay or cancellation
  • Different types of weather conditions may not be visible to the naked eye, such as wind and in-cloud thunderstorms
  • Weather impacts all airlines differently depending on airport locations, hubs, and flight paths
  • Weather in one city may cause flight disruptions for one airline but not another
  • If a flight is cancelled it will not be reinstated

Air Traffic Control Delays

Flights Changed by JetBlue (Schedule Changes)

If your flight is changed by JetBlue, the following options are available based on the extent of the change.

Change less than 3 hours for domestic or less than 6 hours for international.

Any additional voluntary changes you wish to make will be subject to the increase in airfare and any applicable fee.
OR
Flights qualifying for any current fee waiver may be changed or cancelled without a fee.

Change more than 3 hours for domestic or more than 6 hours for international.

You may travel on another JetBlue flight within 5 days before or after your original flight at no additional charge
OR
You may cancel and receive a refund to the original form of payment

Change from nonstop to connecting/stopover flight.

You may travel on another JetBlue flight within 5 days before or after your original flight at no additional charge
OR
You may cancel and receive a refund to the original form of payment

Other Reasons for Delays

Some other reasons for delays can include:

  • Safety delays
    • At JetBlue, safety is our #1 priority. If we identify an opportunity to improve any safety aspect of your trip, we may delay or cancel a flight. 
  • Airport logistics
  • Unexpected operational impacts

Other Important Info

  • If your flight is delayed or cancelled, JetBlue will contact you by email and an automated phone call.
  • For delays, we suggest you arrive at the airport for the originally scheduled departure time. If conditions allow, the estimated departure time could be moved up. The flight is not able to wait for customers who are not there.
  • For cancellations, you can change your outbound or return flight to ensure your trip length stays the same. Contact JetBlue for assistance.
  • If eligible, JetBlue may be able to rebook customers whose flights are cancelled or delayed 3 hours or more for domestic and 6 hours or more for international onto a partner airline. 
  • If a flight is cancelled, it will not be reinstated.
