Managing Your Upgrade
Yes, you can modify or cancel your bid within the allowed timeframe, provided it has not already been accepted. After acceptance, the upgrade cannot be changed, transferred, retained, or applied to another flight, except as described in the Bidding Upgrade refund and rebooking sections. Instant Upgrades cannot be modified or canceled once accepted, except as described in the Instant Upgrade refund and rebooking sections.
No. Upgrades cannot be transferred to another customer.
Except where the airline rebooks you following an airline-initiated disruption or cancellation and elects, subject to availability, to apply the upgrade to the rebooked flight, you have no right to transfer, retain, or change an upgrade for another flight, itinerary, date, or customer.
- If multiple travelers are on the same booking, upgrades will apply to all travelers
- If customers are on separate bookings, each booking must submit their own upgrade request
- Bookings may not be split for the purpose of partially upgrading a party.
If no upgrade offer is available, it may be due to limited availability or eligibility restrictions.
You may ask at the airport if you have any options for upgrades available. This program does not limit any refund that the law requires. For example, a customer must get a refund if they paid for an extra service and do not receive it for reasons that are not their fault. A customer must also get a refund if a covered flight is canceled or seriously disrupted, such as by a major delay or a major change, including a change that affects disability access, and the customer does not accept other transportation or compensation. These terms are defined by U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) rules. If DOT rules require a refund, the refund will be issued automatically when required. It will also be issued within the time DOT rules require. In general, that means within 7 business days for credit card purchases and 20 calendar days for cash, check, debit card, or other forms of payment, unless the DOT changes those time limits.
