Airport Check-In

Suggested airport arrival times

Airport arrival times vary at each airport. Please check your specific airport for the recommended arrival times and ticket counter hours. Avoid travel delays by checking for traffic and weather alerts, and allow enough time to pass through TSA checkpoints, particularly during holidays and peak travel days.

Is your flight delayed?

If your flight is showing as delayed, we recommend that you still arrive at the airport for the originally scheduled departure time. We try to depart as close to this time as possible and if conditions allow, the estimated departure time for your flight could be moved up. Once you're at the airport, we recommend staying close to the gate area to ensure easy access to updates and announcements. The flight is not able to wait for customers who are not present when the aircraft doors close.

Important information:

  • Customers traveling on international flights are required to check in no later than 60 minutes prior to departure and during Customs hours of operation (regardless of flight delays) or they will be denied boarding.
  • Some countries require Proof of Return/Onward travel which will be required at the departure airport ticket counter.

At the kiosk

If you haven’t already checked in online or via the JetBlue app, you can check in at a kiosk using your confirmation code, passport, credit card, TrueBlue number or barcode.

Kiosk check in

All airports with kiosks have the option to check bags. Bags are not accepted for check in more than 6 hours prior to a flight's scheduled departure time (or 4 hours for flights departing from Fort Lauderdale, FL and San Juan, Puerto Rico). Kiosk availability is contingent on airport hours of operation.

During kiosk check in:

  1. Select ‘Yes’ when asked if you are checking bags
  2. Enter number of bags
  3. Collect your boarding pass(es)
  4. Proceed to the bag drop area; your bag tag will be issued and you will leave your bags

Kiosks have a reprint option available if you've checked in but were not able to print your boarding pass.

Tag your bags

You can print your boarding pass and bag tags on the spot, whether you previously checked in or not. (Don’t forget to remove old tags before applying your bag tag to checked luggage.)

  • At most airports, you can just scan your mobile or printed boarding pass at the kiosk to automatically print your bag tags without touching or tapping.
  • If you checked bags at home, proceed directly to the ticket counter or bag drop counter when you arrive at the airport. Hours vary according to each airport location's hours of operation and the local JetBlue flight schedule.
  • Late bag? JetBlue is not liable for any charges incurred for bags that were checked in after this timeframe, nor will we be liable for delivery or compensation for late checked bags.
  • Early? Have a long layover? Bags will not be accepted more than six hours prior to a flight's scheduled departure time (four hours in San Juan).

Add extras at the airport

Stop by the kiosk if you want to add a checked bag, change seats, purchase EvenMore® seats or extra legroom, add priority security, add your TrueBlue or Known Traveler numbers, or even add a pet (subject to space availability on the flight), with just a few clicks

Not checking bags?

If you already have your boarding pass (mobile or paper), you don’t need to stop at the kiosk. Proceed to the security line.

Airport bag drop

When you have your bag tags, come say hi to a crewmember and drop off your bag. Have your ID ready. A crewmember will weigh and scan your bag, check your ID to ensure you are really you, and then you’ll be on your way.

See our bag policies

Effective 5/7/25, all travelers 18+ flying within the U.S. need a state-issued REAL ID-compliant license or another acceptable form of ID (such as a passport or Global Entry card). Starting February 1, 2026, those that do not have REAL ID-compliant identification are required by TSA to verify their identity with a TSA ConfirmID (subject to $45 fee). Learn more about TSA ConfirmID here

Boarding Time

  • Customers on domestic flights must be on board the aircraft 15 minutes prior to departure.
  • Customers on international flights must be on board 20 minutes prior to departure.
  • Any customer not on board, even if they have checked in and received a boarding pass, may be denied boarding and will not be entitled to denied boarding compensation. JetBlue is not liable for expenses incurred due to a customer’s late arrival or denied boarding.

Self-scanning at the gate

You can scan your own digital or printed boarding pass at the gate. Download the free JetBlue mobile app to access your self-scannable boarding pass. Walk up to the gate door, have your pass ready, give it a scan and board the plane.
