LEOs on JetBlue
No customer may carry a firearm while on board JetBlue aircraft except for LEOs in on-duty status.
Prior to traveling to Puerto Rico or any international destination with a firearm, authorized LEOs should contact the government officials of the country they are traveling to for specific information and regulations.
If traveling to an international destination with firearms and/or ammunition, please check with your agency, foreign embassies and consulates in the United States for your destination country before you travel. Certain restrictions apply for each country.
Armed LEO Requirements
- Be a Federal Law Enforcement Officer or Full-time Municipal (City), County, or State Law Enforcement Officer who is a direct employee of a government agency.
- Be sworn and commissioned to enforce criminal and immigration laws.
- Be authorized by the employing agency to have their weapon in connection with their assigned duties.
- Have completed the training program, Law Enforcement Officers Flying Armed.
- Must have the need to have the weapon accessible during the flight as determined by their employing agency or department for tone of the following reasons:
- TSA Federal Air Marshal (FAM) on-duty status.
- Employed as a Federal LEO, whether or not on official travel.
- Providing or traveling to prepare for protective duty.
- On official travel required to report to another location, armed and prepared for duty.
- Traveling for hazardous surveillance operations.
- Traveling to/from a prisoner escort.
- JetBlue does not transport prisoners.
The armed LEO must also complete the Notice to Armed Individuals form, certain exemptions apply.
Working canines
- We only accept search and rescue or explosive detection canines. No private organization, patrol (bitework), dual-purpose, or drug detection canines will be accept for travel on JetBlue.
- You and your working canine must be traveling domestically within the U.S. in Core.
- You are limited to one working canine per handler.
- A total of two working canines per flight will be allowed on each flight.
- All working canines must provide official documentation on U.S. military, government agency, or law enforcement letterhead providing information on the qualifications of the working canine and reason for travel at the airport.
- There is no additional fee for approved working canines.
