A little background

Located 18 miles from the coast of Venezuela, Aruba is the "A" in the ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao). The island is located outside of the "hurricane belt," so the weather stays peaceful and warm most of the year! Unlike many other destinations in the Caribbean, Aruba has a dry, arid climate. In fact, Aruba is known as the sunniest destination in the Caribbean. While the island itself is quite small, there are about 20 beautiful beaches to enjoy - including one of the top 10 beaches in the world! Aruba is home to hospitable people, rich culture and unique heritage.

Arikok National Park + Natural Pool

Located in the northeastern part of the island, Arikok National Park covers 34 acres of the island. The Natural Pool is located within the park, so you can enjoy a cool dip after a beautiful journey and an underwater view of a wide variety of fish. We recommend visiting the park by ATV to make the most out of an adventurous day; if you’re lucky, you might run into some donkeys or goats!

Eagle Beach + Baby Beach

Aruba is home to about 20 beaches. It’s difficult to visit them all, so here are our recommendations:

1) Eagle Beach, which has consistently been noted as one of the world’s top 10 beaches by various magazines and blogs, is known for it’s snow-white sand, clear blue waters and the famously photographed divi tree. Note that this beach is a turtle nesting area so parts may be closed from March-July.

2) Baby Beach, which is located in the southeast end of the island near San Nicholas, is known for its white power sand and extremely shallow waters, making it a perfect beach spot for families and beginner snorkling.

During your stay in Aruba, be sure to head over to Eagle Beach, which consistently ranks among the top 10 beaches in the world. Brought to you by JetBlue Vacations.

Wreck + Reef Diving

One of the most famous dive sites in the area is the Antilla, a ship that sunk during WWII. The wreck is so large that the majority of it is visible while snorkeling on the surface and continues to turn into an artificial reef with coral and marine life. Please note that the currents are strong, and it’s best to book an underwater tour, but if tours aren’t your thing, there are several dive shops along the island that offer equipment rental. Although most famous for wreck diving, the south coast of Aruba is also home to some beautiful reefs (visibility ranges between 35-85 feet).

Oranjestad

Oranjestad (dutch for "orange town") has been the capital of Aruba since 1797. We recommend visiting the town after a day at Eagle Beach as it’s located just southeast of it. The name comes from two characteristics: 1) the deep orange hue that bathes the island in the evening and 2) the tropical pastel colored buildings. The best way to explore Oranjestad is by foot, so you can stroll through the local marketplace and pick up souvenirs for your friends and relatives.
