JetBlue is proud to partner with KaBOOM!, the national nonprofit dedicated to bringing balanced and active play into the daily lives of all kids. Since 2006, over 5,000 JetBlue volunteers have built 23 playgrounds, serving over 50,000 children and helping to ensure all kids get the childhood they deserve filled with balanced and active play so they can thrive.
In 2015, KaBOOM! approached JetBlue with a unique opportunity to not only build a playground, but to celebrate a community personally connected to one of our own inflight crewmembers! The Pride Center at Equality Park in Southern Florida provides social services such as counseling, exercise classes, social engagement events and HIV testing. It is part of the network of The Community of LGBT Centers, a Fort Lauderdale-based nonprofit association that works with 200 LGBT organizations nationally. JetBlue worked closely with the Pride Center and surrounding community members to build a one-of-a-kind playground, the first open to the public playground built onsite at an LGBT community center.
"Nearly 10 years ago, we learned that play is something many kids don't have the opportunity to enjoy in their own communities, so we partnered with KaBOOM! to inspire humanity through play. The passion of our crewmembers has really fueled this partnership resulting in 23 play spaces in underserved communities and areas impacted by natural disasters."
