“We know that our customers feel good when they see friendly and engaged crewmembers, and corporate citizenship—a commitment to sustainable operations and the development of the communities in which we live and work—is what keeps our crewmembers happy and engaged.”
– Robin Hayes, President & CEO, JetBlue
JetBlue crewmembers have always inspired humanity through volunteerism. Five years ago, we decided to honor our crewmembers' commitment to giving back by launching Community Connection – our crewmember volunteer program designed to align corporate giving with individual crewmember passions. To date, JetBlue crewmembers have volunteered over 675,000 hours of service, resulting in over $1.5 million of in-kind donations impacting their local communities.
Caring is a value that crewmembers celebrate every day. Their nonstop dedication to align with JetBlue's mission to inspire humanity is reflected by their many service efforts across the cities JetBlue serves. As the airline continues to grow, so does its impact in these communities.
In December of 2013, Port-au-Prince, Haiti, became JetBlue's 82nd destination. Before the official launch, we decided JetBlue would carry out a humanitarian delivery flight in partnership with the Airbus Corporate Foundation to bring aid to the country, including life-saving anti-cholera medication, blankets and clothing for nearly 6,000 children, hundreds of pair of shoes, thousands of books to help improve literacy, laptops, toiletries and more. Additionally, JetBlue crewmembers also made the first dig for a modernized, fresh water well in what will become a new village for Haitians still displaced following the 2010 earthquake.
