Applause Please

Forget camping out with the Paparazzi. Seeing celebs in L.A. is easier than you think and it's free. Audiences Unlimited, a ticketing clearinghouse for some of TV's most popular shows like "The Price is Right," "Big Brother," "Til' Death," and many others, is your free VIP pass to see your favorite stars live and in person on the set. Don't miss your chance to be part of a TV studio audience and see what really goes on behind the scenes when stars are at work. Tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis and they go fast. Phone: (818) 753-3470

Creative Differences

Designed by three different architects over a span of 30 years, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), is the largest visual arts museum in the Western US. Popular for its great touring exhibitions, evening jazz concerts and film series, this gigantic complex and city landmark features a collection of more than 150,000 pieces including works by Degas, Rembrandt, Hockney, and Monet. Find your way through a labyrinth of galleries showcasing Japanese art, German expressionism, pre-Columbian art and costumes which span the history of art from ancient times to the present. Closed on Wednesdays. Free after 5:00 p.m. Phone: (323) 857-6000

Rides, Camera, Action!

Measuring an enormous 420 action-packed acres, Universal Studios Hollywood puts you so close to the movies you can almost hear the cameras rolling. Look inside the "Jaws" of the famous shark as he gnashes his teeth at you, face the rage of the world's first blockbuster roller coaster in "Revenge of the Mummy," enter, if you dare, into the dark and supernatural world of 19th century Transylvania in "Van Helsing: Fortress Dracula," experience an intense 8.3 trembler during "Earthquake," or even meet Spiderman on one of their side streets. Admission starts at $43 for visitors under 48.

3rd Time's a Charm

A breezy, three block stretch of shopping, dining, and movies, 3rd Street Promenade is the ultimate seaside consumer playground. Attracting tourists and more than the occasional celebrity, The Promenade offers three movie theater multiplexes offering a total of 17 screens, upscale boutiques and nightclubs, intriguing book shops, antique stores, unique memorabilia shops, fast food stands and trendy sidewalk cafés and restaurants like the famous Broadway Deli, plus amusing entertainment from street performers like magicians, mimes, comedians and musicians.

9021Oh!

The city with the famous zip code and famous stars, Beverly Hills is where everything fashionista is happening. Here you'll find Rodeo Drive, the most famous shopping street on the planet featuring prestigious stores like Prada, Gucci, Versace, Dior and Cartier; Beverly Drive, home to the flagship stores of national retailers like Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, The Gap and Banana Republic; Canon Drive, four blocks lined with local boutiques and the titans of luxury retailing: Neiman-Markus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Barney's New York; and Robertson Blvd., the hotbed of hip up-and-comers in all categories.

Sunset Strip

With its eccentric character and humongous trademark billboards, The Sunset Strip offers a mile and a half of rock clubs, restaurants, boutiques and cutting-edge Hollywood nightspots. The Strip is home to L.A.'s premier comedy clubs, The Laugh Factory and The Comic Store, where stand-up comics such as Jay Leno got their big break; the colossal, 30,000 square feet Virgin Megastore; trendy nightclubs like Union, The Sky Bar and The Viper Room (owned by Johnny Depp); and celebrity restaurants like Le Dome, co-founded by Elton John.

Celebrity Eats

One of L.A.'s most popular celebrity hangouts, The Ivy is a shabby chic open patio restaurant where Paparazzi camp out to steal shots of arriving celebs. Surrounded by a picket fence, huge blooming roses and framed by ivies, this rustic restaurant has starred in movies such as "Get Shorty" and "The Bodyguard". With it's great service (Hey, even Ashley Judd used to work here), succulent dishes like the spinach linguine with a peppery tomato-basil sauce, prime rib dusted with Cajun spices and tender lime-marinated grilled chicken and even a great burger, it's no surprise it's Demi Moore's favorite restaurant. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Reservations are a must. Phone: (310) 274-8303

Dogs' Day & Night Out

Businessmen, families, musicians and even movie stars stand in the endless line at Pink's Famous Chili Dogs 'cause it's well worth the wait. Pink's signature chili-cheese dog is loaded with fresh chili, cheese, mustard and onions and it's prepared and delivered to you in less than 30 seconds! Since its pushcart beginnings in 1939, Pink's has evolved into a small building and has expanded its menu to include rare creations like the pastrami-Reuben dogs, the foot-long JalapeƱo dog and even the Martha Stewart dog. Open every day from 9:30 a.m.

Get Clawed

An ocean lookout for the crustacean-crazy, The Lobster, has been offering superb shellfish, tempting marine delicacies, and a great bar scene for over 80 years. Specialties include spicy Louisiana prawns with dirty rice and the popular sautéed North Carolina black bass in truffle sauce served with lobster salad. Request a table by the deck, order a Bloody Mary garnished with Jumbo Shrimp and enjoy the 180-degree panoramic view of the Pacific. This seafood shack overflows all week long, so reservations are a must. Phone: (310) 458-9294
