Putt It On

Built in the heart of Jacksonville, the World Golf Village is the perfect place to play. It features two unique championship golf courses, "King & Bear", the only course in the world designed by Hall of Fame golfers Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, and "Slammer & Squire", designed with input and inspiration from legends Slammin' Sammy Snead and Gene "The Squire" Sarazen. You can also play tennis, swim in the pool, walk or jog along special trails and visit the World Golf Hall of Fame and its IMAX Theater

Wild Kingdom

One of the Southeast's best, Jacksonville Zoological Park and Gardens is a 73-acre zoo with more than 800 animals, including lions, rhinos, elephants, antelopes, cheetahs, gorillas and other African wildlife. The zoo boasts many specialty exhibits including Great Apes of the World, Range of the Jaguar and a large elephant exhibit with a swimming pool. There's also a petting zoo, outdoor aviary, miniature train, picnic grounds, restaurants and a gift shop.

Not So Secret Gardens

An impressive museum built on the grounds of a private Tudor mansion, Cummer Museum of Arts & Gardens features beautiful art in a beautiful setting. The museum houses over 5,000 pieces including works by Rubens, Bernini and Renoir in twelve galleries. The museum's also famous for its three acres of spectacular European-style gardens.

Grin & Beer It

Discover first-hand how the world's most famous beers are crafted at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. During complimentary tours of the state-of-the-art facility, visitors get to see the entire brewing and bottling process and at the end, those over 21 can sample their favorite brews. Don't miss the gift shop and check out the brewery's stable which houses the famous Clydesdale horses. Must be at least 18 to visit the brewery or shops.

Top Crop

Built in 1792, Kingsley Plantation is the oldest remaining plantation house in the state of Florida. Owned by an eccentric slave trader, Zephaniah Kingsley, the plantation produced crops of cotton, sugar cane, sweet potatoes and citrus fruits. Explore various areas like the Planter's residence with its unusual floorplan; the kitchen house; cotton garden; barn; and slave quarters, where ruins of 23 slave cabins stand as reminders of the enslaved men, women and children who once lived and worked there. Admission is free. Open daily (except Christmas Day) from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. On 11676 Palmetto Ave.

Out and About

A favorite spot for day trips, St. Augustine is full of history and beautiful beaches. Here you will find historic sites like the 300-year-old Castillo de San Marcos, a Spanish fort from the 1600s with 16-foot thick walls, and fun attractions like the Old Town Trolley Tour and the Lightner Museum. On St. George Street, a pedestrian shopping zone, you'll find art galleries, one-of-a-kind street musicians and artists. If you want to sunbathe, go to Vilano Beach, and if you're in the mood for bird-watching, hiking, swimming, and other outdoor activities, then Anastasia State Park is the place to go. 30 minutes south of Jacksonville.

Hip Meals

Located in a trendy neighborhood, Biscotti's offers eclectic specialties for breakfast, lunch and dinner. With an ambiance reminiscent of New York's East Village, this midsize restaurant serves beautifully presented cuisine from pastries to curry grilled swordfish, creative salads, pizzas with exotic toppings like guacamole and black beans, and a wonderful array of mouthwatering desserts. On 3556 St. Johns Ave. (904) 387-2060

Here's The Catch

A rustic fish camp that has been delighting customers since 1969, Singleton's Seafood Shack is classic Old Florida. This big, weathered place is built out of unpainted, well-weathered plywood and its fresh-off-the-boat dishes are served on disposable plates at wide plank tables. You'll be tempted to overindulge on conch fritters, shrimp, clam strips, oysters, squid, blackened mahimahi and Cajun shrimp, but save room for their delicious peanut butter pie. On 4728 Ocean St. (904) 246-4442

It’s Brewing

A beautiful restaurant and microbrewery located on the Southbank Riverwalk, River City Brewing Company offers impressive views and succulent food. Try their coconut shrimp with a sweet mandarin-orange sauce and pretzel-encrusted mahimahi with mustard-cream, or just enjoy a great burger. Free brewery tours are available as well as live entertainment during weekend nights. Don't miss Sunday brunch or Sunday night's seafood buffet.
