Owned by an eccentric slave trader, Zephaniah Kingsley, the plantation produced crops of cotton, sugar cane, sweet potatoes and citrus fruits. Explore various areas like the Planter's residence with its unusual floorplan; the kitchen house; cotton garden; barn; and slave quarters, where ruins of 23 slave cabins stand as reminders of the enslaved men, women and children who once lived and worked there. Out and About

A favorite spot for day trips, St. Augustine is full of history and beautiful beaches. Here you will find historic sites like the 300-year-old Castillo de San Marcos, a Spanish fort from the 1600s with 16-foot thick walls, and fun attractions like the Old Town Trolley Tour and the Lightner Museum. On St. George Street, a pedestrian shopping zone, you'll find art galleries, one-of-a-kind street musicians and artists. If you want to sunbathe, go to Vilano Beach, and if you're in the mood for bird-watching, hiking, swimming, and other outdoor activities, then Anastasia State Park is the place to go. 30 minutes south of Jacksonville.

Here's The Catch

A rustic fish camp that has been delighting customers since 1969, Singleton's Seafood Shack is classic Old Florida. This big, weathered place is built out of unpainted, well-weathered plywood and its fresh-off-the-boat dishes are served on disposable plates at wide plank tables. You'll be tempted to overindulge on conch fritters, shrimp, clam strips, oysters, squid, blackened mahimahi and Cajun shrimp, but save room for their delicious peanut butter pie. It’s Brewing
