We set out in 2000 to bring humanity back to the skies, when we noticed a lack of compassion, a missing human touch, in the air travel experience. It's what we're still doing today; only we've taken our promise below our wings and beyond our airports, bringing the customer service in the sky to charitable services on the ground.

Beyond just raising cause awareness, we're dedicated to developing meaningful charitable partnerships and creating volunteer experiences for our crewmembers and customers to support the communities we fly and belong to. In order to make a bigger, positive impact in all our efforts, JetBlue works hand-in-hand with local and national organizations to foster influential programs and connect communities within our areas of commitment: Youth & Education, Community and the Environment.

Youth & Education

Soar With Reading
In 2011, JetBlue launched Soar with Reading, a program designed to inspire kids' imaginations to take flight through reading. A study reports that while in middle-income neighborhoods the ratio of books per child is 13 to 1, in low-income neighborhoods the ratio is 1 age-appropriate book for every 300 children. JetBlue's Soar with Reading program encourages kids' imaginations to take flight through reading and help get age-appropriate books into the hands of kids who need them.

This year, JetBlue is excited to partner with Random House Children's Books and Magic Tree House author, Mary Pope Osborne (along with Jack and Annie) to encourage children to share the magic of reading, and you can help! This summer we will be asking kids: What magical Places would YOU like to travel with Jack, Annie and JetBlue this summer? Create your own adventure — then ask your parents to visit to share your story with us and be entered for a chance to win a $5,000 college scholarship or other great prizes. You can also be a part of the mission to get $500,000 worth of books into the hands of children everywhere! For every entry, JetBlue and Random House will donate a book to a child in need through Mary Pope Osborne's Classroom Adventures Program. We hope you will share your story to help us reach our goal!

First Book
In 2006, JetBlue launched a partnership with First Book, a nonprofit organization that provides access to new books for children in need. First Book and JetBlue partnered with schools and local communities to engage literacy appreciation during diversity awareness months. In the summer of 2011, First Book joined JetBlue and PBS Kids to launch Soar with Reading to provide children with free books to combat illiteracy. Community Connection
As part of JetBlue's values, we strive to be a great corporate citizen by providing service opportunities to crewmembers beyond the airport. In the spring of 2011, JetBlue launched Community Connection, a volunteer program designed to align corporate giving with the individual passions of JetBlue's crewmembers. The program rewards and recognizes crewmember dedication to the community by granting organizations of their choice a travel gift for every 25 hours they volunteer. Since the program's launch, more than 1,900 JetBlue crewmembers have volunteered over 40,000 hours and served more than 268 non-profit partners.

From Blue to You
In August 2012, JetBlue launched a gift matching program, From Blue to You, to further support the various causes that are important to JetBlue's crewmembers. The program encourages crewmembers to champion their charity in teams by rallying a small group of crewmembers to participate in an event that fosters teamwork, shared passion for a cause, and a commitment to raise funds for JetBlue to match.

Since 2005, JetBlue and KaBOOM! have partnered to create play spaces for children across JetBlue's communities and help fight the deficit of play for children in underserved neighborhoods. In seven years, JetBlue and KaBOOM! have brought together more than 3,600 volunteers to move 15 tractor trailers full of mulch and build 17 playgrounds, which now serve more than 10,128 children. In 2013, JetBlue and KaBOOM! will build an additional three playgrounds. Currently, KaBOOM! has built 2,194 places for play and successfully advocated for play policies in hundreds of cities across the country. For more information, visit

In 2008, JetBlue partnered with, a nonprofit organization that allows customers to offset carbon dioxide emissions generated by their individual air travel with carbon offsets. The partnership enables customers to offset their flight's carbon footprint upon completing their JetBlue itinerary online. Since 2008, JetBlue has pledged to offset all crewmember business travel by giving to In 2012, the Foundation awarded JetBlue with the 2011 People and Planet Award in recognition of the airline's commitment to reducing crewmember and customer environmental impact. In addition, uses the company's support to fund their initiatives in JetBlue cities. These initiatives include renewable energy and methane projects; energy efficiency and carbon credits; reforestation and avoided deforestation.

One Thing That's Green
One Thing That's Green is JetBlue's ongoing effort to help the community and environment by encouraging customers, crewmembers and their communities to do "one thing that's green" for the environment. Since 2007, more than 1,900 crewmembers and volunteers have donated their time to plant over 1,200 trees and clean up nearly three tons of trash. As part of the One Thing That's Green campaign, hundreds of volunteers, alongside JetBlue crewmembers, celebrate Earth Day by planting trees in our hometown New York, in partnership with the New York Restoration Project and Million Trees NYC. To honor the 5th year of the campaign in 2012, we planted a tree for everyone traveling with JetBlue on Earth Day, which resulted in over 80,000 trees being planted.

Our giving

The JetBlue Foundation

JetBlue is the first airline to launch a foundation solely focused on aviation-related education.

Since JetBlue’s beginnings, we have set our sights on inspiring humanity beyond air travel – for customers, crewmembers and the communities we serve. One way we have done this is by showing support for STEM programs (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) through relationships with education-focused organizations like PENCIL, Cradle of Aviation, SUN ‘n FUN and others. In September 2013, JetBlue created a company-sponsored foundation to advance aviation-related education called the JetBlue Foundation. The JetBlue Foundation will work to put aviation on the map as a top career choice for students by igniting interest in STEM and aviation.

The Foundation’s mission is to support aviation-related education in general and Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) in particular, and foster effective programs that empower and provide opportunities to students and communities. The JetBlue Foundation will help to advance and provide learning opportunities for underserved groups by working hand-in-hand with local and national education institutions that will support aviation-related programs and cultivate influential programs.

Swing For Good

The JetBlue Swing for Good Golf Classic is the airline's largest charitable fundraiser that began in 2009 as a vehicle to raise funds for JetBlue's charitable partners. Providing a great mix of fun, camaraderie and competition at one of the country's most renowned golf venues, the ultimate goal is to raise funds for outstanding charities. This charity golf tournament brings together members of the JetBlue family to achieve new milestones in giving. Over the past three years, JetBlue has raised $1 million to benefit charities, including KaBOOM!, and PBS Kids. Hosted at Bethpage State Park, JetBlue's Swing for Good Golf Classic includes a day of golf and opportunity to make a difference within JetBlue's communities. JetBlue proudly supports non-profit organizations in the cities that we serve. If you'd like to be considered for a JetBlue in-kind donation to support your cause, please submit an online request at

Due to the volume of requests we receive, please allow six weeks for yours to be processed. Be sure to include your organization's nine-digit nonprofit tax ID number.

If you are requesting on behalf of an organization and do not know this number, we recommend you speak with a development officer at the organization you're representing. Requests that are incomplete cannot be processed.

We support the causes that matter most to you through our own charity events and programs, and with our community partners.

Your part

We understand that each community has its own unique needs and causes that are important to them. During times of need or urgency, JetBlue has worked with customers to support such causes. For example, following Hurricane Sandy, our customers expressed an interest to provide support for relief efforts. Via our giving site, customers donated more than $735,000 in just one month to Red Cross relief efforts. On a corporate level, JetBlue supports youth & education, community and the environment. We continue to encourage JetBlue's customers to become advocates for charities and causes that are near and dear to their hearts.

JetBlue customers and crewmembers are passionate about the causes they support.
